School lunches can be such a pain in the butt, especially after you’ve been making them for a few months. My son is only at pre-school 2 days a week but I still have trouble keeping things fresh and interesting. We pretty much have a set rotation of main items, but it’s a lot easier to switch up the fruits and snacks.
We love our PlanetBox lunchbox. I started out the school year using a Ziploc plastic container, but I was finding it super difficult to pack the healthy lunch that I wanted to pack. PlanetBox is quite the investment, but the quality is worth it. It’s stainless steel and should last us years and I love that it is dishwasher safe. I think Cole loves the little treat compartment the most!
To help make things a little easier for you, I made a graphic that lists a bunch of healthy options by category. It’s important to make sure you have a good balance of foods groups in there so that your kiddos are getting the nutrition it requires to keep them focused at school. I always make sure I have a protein, a carb, fruits and veggies, and sometimes I add in a dairy. It typically comes back completely empty! My boy loves to eat.
