Welcome to Coach University! This training is meant to teach you some of the most important things you need to know as a coach. We’ve done our best to simplify and condense the information for this document, but please know that there are unlimited resources available to you! Your job right now is to just focus on being a student. There is a lot to learn, and we want you to know that it’s okay to learn as you go. Ask questions, be self-motivated, and take the initiative to look things up when you are unsure. Complete these modules on your own time and then connect with your coach when you have finished!
4 Vital behaviors
The Vital Behaviors are the most important things in your entire business. If you commit to doing these four things every day, your business WILL grow. But the secret sauce is the CONSISTENCY. If you only do these things when you feel like it, you won’t see that steady growth in your business that I know you want to see. The 4 Vital Behaviors are:
Be a Product of the Product
Invite, Invite, Invite!
Recognize Challengers and Coaches
We are going to talk about some of these behaviors more in depth over the next 2 weeks, but today we’d like to focus on one of the most important: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. Unfortunately, this is the one that people often skip and it’s also the one that is going to change everything. Your mindset matters more than anything, because if you don’t believe in yourself, the other 3 Vital Behaviors won’t happen effectively.
In this video, Michelle Battitori is going to talk to you about personal development and why it's so important to your business.

As coaches, THE most important thing we do is build relationships. Without community and trust, you don’t have a business. One of the most powerful methods of doing this and building rapport with another person is the F.O.R.M. acronym.
Remembering these four things will help you connect on Facebook and when you are out and about. You don't need to have a list of questions to follow exactly; just chat and be yourself. The F.O.R.M. process could take days, weeks, or even months! It all depends on the person and what kind of relationship you have already established with them, so don’t be discouraged when the conversation doesn’t lead you to delivering the message right away.
Reach out to 3-5 friends and begin using the F.O.R.M. process and the questions in the document above. Before you do, take a minute or two to scroll through their Facebook page and learn what they’ve been up to. Doing so usually makes it much easier to start a conversation.
Objections in our business are very normal, and if you’re not getting them, that means you aren’t inviting anybody. We can’t take objections personally; we have to see them for what they are: unanswered questions. It means that the person you are talking to just doesn’t have enough information to feel confident about committing. Most of the time, people are going to tell you that they can’t afford it. But the truth is, is that statement is usually coming from fear.
Think about all of the things you have tried and failed at in the past to lose weight. It can be difficult to think about committing to something new when you don’t have the best track record for following through. People are usually worried about wasting their money, afraid to fail, or unsure about changing their current lifestyle.
One of the best ways to deal with an objection is the FEEL - FELT - FOUND method. Here is an example:
“I totally understand how you FEEL. I FELT the same way when I first saw the price. What I FOUND was that I really did have the money, it was just a matter of getting creative. I looked around the house and found some old baby toys that my son no longer played with and I sold them in one of those Facebook yard sale sites. I used that money to purchase my first challenge pack - and that decision changed my entire life. I’ve learned that our health has to be the #1 priority or else everything else is just out of whack.”
When somebody gives you an objection, receive it with a smile and remain confident in what you are offering them. If you can’t get past it, write their name down on a list so you remember to follow up with them. You’ll want to keep in touch with these people to show them that you care more about them than you do the sale. Send general messages every 1-2 weeks saying something like “Hey! I was just thinking about you. How are you doing?” or “Hey girl! I just wanted to check in and see how things are going! Are you working towards that goal of losing 20 pounds?”
If you stay consistent with your follow-ups, you’ll find that most NOs will turn into a YES.
take action: Set a NO goal for the next 30 days. How many NOs are you going to shoot for?
Dreams give you power. Goals give you focus.
Setting goals in this business is essential. You need a strong WHY and a strong vision so you can see where you are headed. You want to have a big VISION for your business (pay off $100,000 in student loan debt, build my dream home, etc) and then break that vision into smaller, attainable goals. In Team Evolve, we like to set monthly goals and then share them with the team for accountability at the beginning of every month.
When I say attainable, I don’t mean SAFE. :) We try to set BHAG’s: Big Hairy Audacious Goals. You want your goals to push you slightly outside of your comfort zone. If you’re comfortable, you’re not growing, and this business is all about personal growth!
take action: Write down your WHY, your BIG VISION, and 3 small short-term goals for your business. When you are done, send them to your coach! Also, start thinking about what your vision board would look like.
This business does not require a lot of time - but whatever time you DO spend needs to be focused and intentional. A Power Hour (or even half hour) is really all you need to get the 4 Vital Behaviors done each day. Don’t get sucked into the “busy excuse.” You may not be able to sit down for a full 60 minutes all at one time, but you can definitely find 20 minutes here and there throughout your day to complete your tasks.
The key is to have a plan, minimize distractions (like endless Facebook scrolling), and spend those 60 minutes doing very focused work. Also, you may not be able to spend a full hour every day, but may have more time to dedicate to your business on the weekends. The beauty of this business is the flexibility - so make it work for you!
This video is straight from our upline, Sommer Tucker. Sommer is a 15 Star Diamond Coach and her energy is amazing. This video is an hour long and she is going to break down the power hour for you. You’re probably not going to be able to watch this all at one time, but please make it a point to watch it. Break it into chunks and listen to 20 minutes while you’re showering and getting ready, 20 minutes while you’re driving to work, and 20 minutes before you go to bed. It’s worth it, I promise!
TAKE ACTION: Schedule your power hour into your day for the next 3 days.
Your head might be spinning with all of this new information... totally normal! Give it time and it will all sink in. Our topic today is all about Success Partners. Simply put, a Success Partner (we like to call them SP’s) is going to keep you sane. This business is SIMPLE but it is not always EASY. There will be times when you feel like quitting, when you wonder what the heck you are doing this for, and when you lose sight of your WHY. There will be times when you feel overwhelmed and tired. This is where your Success Partner comes into play. We all need somebody to vent to, to brainstorm with, to celebrate with, and to cry with. They will keep you from jumping off the ledge and remind you of why this business is so special when you’re having trouble seeing it yourself.
TAKE ACTION: Find a Success Partner!! If you don’t have anybody in mind, reach out to your coach so they can help you find one.
Social media is the glue that is going to hold your business together. You want to focus on being a storyteller, not a salesman. Think of it this way: Facebook is now your storefront. When people come to your page, you want them to immediately understand who you are and what you’re about. You don’t want them to see a page filled with ads, fliers, or negativity! They can’t relate or connect to that.
In this video, Erica Tehonica is going to talk to you about how to use social media effectively to build a strong community and a strong business.

Save the above documents for future reference and take 5-10 minutes to write a post that adds value to your Facebook Community! If you need help, reach out to your coach!
One of the 4 Vital Behaviors is Invite! Invite! Invite! It’s written three times for a good reason! It’s important! If your conversations never lead to the inviting stage, then your business will get stuck. We know that there can be a lot of fear surrounding inviting, but please understand that this gets easier over time. We understand that in order to develop muscle on our body, we have to work out consistently and keep challenging our body with harder exercises and heavier weights. Inviting is just like that. It’s a muscle that we must develop - and the only way to do so is through
ACTION. It’s going to feel a little awkward at first until you really start to get the hang of it.
In this video, Lindsay Gaines is going to talk to you about how to share your message effectively and how your confidence in our products and what you have to offer as a coach will go a long
You can’t get to the INVITE without having a LIST. Share a photo of your working list with your coach. You should be writing down the names of everybody you can think of - try not to prejudge them! Just get their name on paper and worry about the FORMing and the invites later.
You may have noticed that we have several different groups on Facebook, but they are all important for different reasons! Rather than letting them overwhelm you, learn how to manage them in an organized way. Taking the time to learn the purpose of each group and what you should be doing in each one will make things a lot easier on you.
We run a lot of our groups as a team because we have found that it works best for most of us. Having said that, please feel free to do what works for you! If you would rather run your own challenge groups with your own spin on it, rock it! This business is YOURS and we want you to feel free to be you.
take action: Take 5 minutes today to check into our groups! Like & comment on photos, help answer questions, encourage our challengers, and catch up in the Team Evolve page!
“Always play to the size of your HEART, not the size of your AUDIENCE. Awesome gets up for two people or 200.” - Jon Acuff
When you join Team Evolve, you are a leader upon sign up! You may not have a large customer base yet or a big team of coaches, but you are a leader to those around you because you’ve stepped forward into this role as a coach. The best thing that you can do for your business is to act like a leader from the start. Do not wait to be a certain rank or to make a certain amount of money - that is only going to hold you back. Act as if you are already the coach that you want to be, and I promise, you will naturally begin to progress towards those goals.
take action: Share something with the team today! It could be something you learned in your personal development, or a quote that you found encouraging or inspiring.
If you plan on being a business builder, you will need to figure out a system for tracking your business. Random pieces of paper, Facebook messages, and your memory just won’t cut it! You want to make sure that nobody is falling through the cracks - and in order to do that - you need a system for keeping track of who you have talked to and who you WANT to talk to.
There are several different options available to you, which range from FREE to $30/month, but what’s most important is that you find one that works for you. We are all different and organize ourselves in different ways, so the tool is up to you, but the tracking should be non-negotiable. You may need to try a few different ones before you find a good fit.
Take action: After you watch the video and take a few moments to check out your options, choose one and begin tracking your business! Message your coach and let them know which method you chose.
Good customer service goes a long way in this business. Unlike traditional sales models, our job doesn’t really begin until the sale has been completed. Once you get people to commit to a program and/or Shakeology, now comes the hard part - helping them get the results.
Happy customers will keep coming back for more, will refer friends and family to you, and will eventually become coaches on your team. People come to you for help because they trust that you are going to get them to where they want to be, so it’s important to follow through and be there for them. You want to help them achieve their desired results and help them build a love for and a belief in our products. How do you do that?
TAKE ACTION: Invest in some note cards! The Target Dollar Bins always have great options.
You made it! We hope that this training was informative and helpful and that you feel clear about where you are headed. Everything we shared is an important part of coaching, but as we wrap up, we want to talk to you about communication.
Your coach is here to help you succeed in this business. There are no expectations of you, other than the ones that you place on yourself. It is important that you stay in communication with your coach and talk to them about how things are going on a daily or weekly basis. If they don’t know what you are struggling with, they can’t help! Don’t be an island! We are a team, and more importantly, we are FRIENDS, and we are here to support you in whatever way that we can. Communication is ESSENTIAL, and if you start ignoring your coach and your team and go into hiding when things get hard, you will end up giving up on your goals and your dreams.
Here is a list of NON-NEGOTIABLES when it comes to your business:
Do the 4 Vital Behaviors, every single day, even if you don’t feel like it.
Show up on social media every day to build trust and community.
Track your business using a tool that works for you.
Find a Success Partner who will support you and push you.
Check into our groups every single day.
